He came from humble beginnings and belonged to an educated family. His father Edward was a dentist and his mother Karen, a psychiatrist. The youngest of 4 children, Mark was a sure-shot favorite in the family. He was only 12 years old when he made use of his Atari BASIC computer and invented Zucknet, a messenger.
Decades down the line, the tech stripes haven’t faded and neither has Mark’s hunger to invent and reinvent himself. He wears Gap-worthy jeans and hoodies and cruises nonchalantly in a Volkswagen GTI that’s worth around £20,000 & you’ll never catch him flashing the cash- Is the man unassuming or what?

Facebook’s latest launch is “Facebook Lite”. It’s essentially a basic version of the Android mobile app which utilizes significantly less data than the latter. The idea is to cater to millions of users in emerging markets across the world. This app has been launched in a number of countries across Asia and is all set to be rolled out in sections of Europe, Africa as well as Latin America, over the next few weeks. This is the tech avatar of Facebook’s CEO; there is also a philanthropist avatar. Just a couple of days ago, the dynamic Facebook CEO made an announcement on his post- He & Priscilla Chan his wife have made a donation of $5M to TheDream.us, a scholarship fund.
The donation will help many young, undocumented immigrants across the United States to attend college. This donation will be able to help over 400 immigrants living in the San Francisco Bay Area, over the next 5 years. It’s also where the Facebook headquarters is located. Forbes reports that Mark Zuckerberg (31) is worth $36B; for a tech crazy kid from humble beginnings, it’s been an impressive run, wouldn’t you say?
