This method will stop anyone else apart from your friends or friends of friends (depending on your choice) to comment on your profile. Your profile is risk-free from an outsider commenting on it and creating a nuisance among your listed friends.

Step 6: Select the desired option from the list.

Facebook on the browser and on a smartphone has a similar process when it comes to turning off the comments for your public posts. Now your profile is secure from intruders or some people who want to defame you on social media.

Turning OFF Comments on Facebook Pages

Unfortunately, Facebook has removed the feature of turning OFF comments on Facebook pages. You can't disable Facebook comments on Facebook Fan pages anymore.

Turning OFF comments in Groups

There is no direct option that can help you turn off comments of outsiders in the group. The option is just limited to the post creators or admins/mods of the group. If you have not created the group or the post, you cannot turn off commenting on the particular post.

If you’re the admin of the group or creator of the post, follow the steps below to turn off commenting on your post in a Facebook group.

Step 1: Open the particular post you want to turn off the comments for.

Step 2: Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the post. A new menu will popup.

Step 3: Locate for “Turn off commenting” from the list of items on the menu.

Disable Comments on Facebook Group

The post commenting will be turned off and no one will be able to add new comments on the post until you turn it on again. Remember, this is only allowed for the admin/moderator of the group or the post creator.

Turning OFF comments on pages

There is no option to turn off the comments for a particular post on a page. However, you can hide the comments or delete them if you’re the page owner or the person who commented.

You can do that by just clicking on the post and select on either “Hide Comment” or “Delete Comment”.

Wrap Up

Social media is a dangerous place and it’s advised to stay secure at all times. Turning off your profile comments is beneficial if you want to keep your profile locked out from unknown people. Facebook also introduced a profile guard so no outsider is able to access any information on your profile unless they’re added as a friend on your friend list.
